#4 - Trauma & The Legal System: A Conversation With Kelsey Lavoie
In this episode we sit down with Kelsey Lavoie to look at some of philosophical underpinnings of the legal system and how it wounds rather than helps. We also explore law school and how lawyers are trained and ways that the system can heal.
Kelsey is trained and experienced as a human rights educator and advocate, as well as a restorative justice dialogue facilitator and a certified celebrant. Kelsey has a passion for dance, music and rituals that foster our capacities to feel and honour our interconnectedness.
Kelsey's academic experiences include a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in Sociology, a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Human and Social Development and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) with a focus on alternative dispute resolution and Indigenous legal traditions.
With these diverse interests and passions, Kelsey strives to be a weaver of creativity, justice and healing in our social fabric.
